One reason our foster parents tell us they feel like part of a large Christian family here is because we've always got something going on!
We know that the more opportunities there are for fellowship, training and just plain fun, the better we'll get to know our parents and children, and the more supported and cared for they will feel.
As a member of Hope & Home, the welcome mat is out for you at:
- The Great Swing Set Build-Away. Each year members of the community come out to build deluxe wooden swing sets for 10 deserving foster families throughout Colorado Springs. Thanks to our donors, the families receive these swing sets at no cost to them. To date, 30 Hope & Home foster families have gotten one!
- The High Hopes & High Fashions dinner, show and fundraiser. Our awesome foster and adopted kids look forward every year to modeling the latest back-to-school clothes during this spectacular and heartwarming evening. Attending this fundraising dinner is free of charge. If you'd like to host a table at this year's event (October 8, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza), please contact Bridgette for more information by clicking here. bwright@hopeandhome.org
- Annual Harvest, Christmas and Easter celebrations. Because many of the children who enter foster care have never had a birthday party, have never received even one Christmas present, we make holiday celebrations a big priority at Hope & Home. The kids play games and get presents, and everyone feasts and revels in the fellowship.
- Summer O' Fun. Just because school lets out doesn't mean the fun has to stop! Our staff has a great time coming up with new themes for our every-other-week picnics and outings. From "Pirates" to "Picasso in the Park" to Hope & Home Night at the SkySox, we keep the good times rolling.
- Jericho Java performances. Our members-only coffeehouse, Jericho Java, serves up more than just lattes and frappaccinos: Local dancers, musicians and other entertainers take to the stage in our Venice Room and treat our families to free shows.
- Charity golf tournaments. Supporters who like to get "in the swing of things" can sponsor or play in two annual golf events, The Classic Homes/Club at Flying Horse Charity Golf Tournament and Southside Johnny's Golf Scramble, both of which benefit the children of Hope & Home.
- Family celebrations in our Ocean and Venice rooms. Our large and beautifully decorated community rooms are available for use by our foster families free of charge, and have hosted special events from adoption celebrations to high-school graduation parties. We even had a staff wedding and a baptism here!
